Description
In addition to bearing failures, misalignment, and other common fault conditions, electric motors have unique failure modes that can be detected with vibration analysis, motor current analysis, motor circuit analysis, and other online and static testing techniques. Utilizing the famous Mobius animations, an introduction to how synchronous and induction motors work will be presented, and then the common failure modes will be discussed. The presentation will go on to explain how these condition monitoring techniques can be used to provide an early warning of those failure modes. Brief case studies will be provided, and there will be opportunities for questions.
