Abstract
Vibration analysis is used to find out root cause for the vibration problem in rotating machinery. When it comes to critical machinery whose stoppage will cause heavy production loss, finding root cause requires extensive analysis of each component causing vibration. Sub-synchronous vibration in rotating machinery is a kind of vibration which could result because of fluid whirl. The fluid could be steam, oil, gas. The following case study is about solving a sub-synchronous vibration problem in a huge axial compressor in an Integrated steel Plant in India. For studying the sub-synchronous vibration problem in the compressor, contribution of each and every component in the compressor is studied and root cause was found and the problem is solved.
Takeaways
1. Attendees will explore correlating process and vibration data for better diagnosis.
2. Attendees can know how decision making can be done for corrective action after fault finding.
3. Studying the root cause for vibration problem taking consideration into each and every component in the rotating machine.
